A Story of Human and Divine Love
- January 29, 2006
From "The Informant"
"The Wild Rose of Lancaster" is a fantastic story of human and
divine love. Ellinger drops you right smack into the 18th century
and into the life of Elizabeth Cameron, a distressed young widow who
begins by crazily hurling her belongings through the glass of a
second story window. As her possessions crash like dreams on the
ground below, God begins working a divine plan for her safe return
to Him.
In her brilliant but subtle way,
the author beautifully contrasts God's stubborn and determined
presence in our lives with the main character's stubborn and
persistent rejection of her faith in Him. Readers won't be able to
resist coming along to watch, as Elizabeth goes kicking and
screaming back home to her earthly father and ultimately back to a
loving relationship with her Heavenly Father. You'll be inspired as
you watch God save Elizabeth's father, heal her mother, restore her
faith and bring a new loving man into her life. By page 388, you'll
be dancing on top of a mountain singing, "Savior let me walk beside
Thee, Let me feel my hand in Thine; Let me know the joy of walking,
In Thy strength and not in mine." This is a must read.

It is hard to convey in an email
how much I loved the book! Oh, my! I savored every page, loved each
and every character! How beautifully written. Naturally, the
Christian theme throughout the book was a feeling of awe.
Your description of our beloved
"Standing Stone" was so realistic. No other place on earth like it!
(at least for me!)
I also loved the Scottish background!
Thank you again Ruth, may God
continue to Bless you!

Heart-warming family saga of trial
and triumph! Five stars! February 9, 2006
The Davidson family and their
trials and triupmphs is portrayed by the author in a vivid and heart
warming way. Elizabeth Davidson draws you into her life until you
are completely caught up in the story. The strong and compelling
characters, wonderful descriptive setting, and the expert detail of
the 19th century times and people, keep you turning the pages.
Best inspirational fiction to come
down the pike in a long time. Excellent presentation of Scottish
view of their history and heritage. Gripping Prologue. Whatever
happened to Derick? A best seller for sure.

What a wonderful book!
My measure for a good
book is that you want to finish it as soon as possible, and yet do
not want it to end! And that is exactly what happened while reading
"Wild Rose"! I love your descriptive style of writing - you paint
such beautiful pictures with words! And now, you must write a
sequel, please tell me you are working on one. You have spent a lot
of time with Lancaster history, so please continue the story of the
Davidson Clan and their years in and around Lancaster. Thank you for
such a good read, while I enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery
here.
Cordially,

I just finished
reading The Wild Rose of Lancaster. I wanted to let you know how
much I enjoyed reading it. Isaac's character touched me the deepest
as I see him in my husband. Daily I pray that he will turn his life
to God fully. I was touched deeply when Isaac did turn his life over
to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It gives me hope as I feel
like I study scriptures and am alone in marriage as far as religion
is concerned. For some reason, I felt the Holy Spirit pointing me in
the direction of this book at the bookstore the other day. Maybe
that was the reason. I will stay strong just as Delilah did.
Is there any possibility that you
may have a sequel to this book? I would love to read what Elizabeth
and Stephen do with their life together.
God Bless,

Historical, Inspirational, and
Romantic “The Wild Rose
of Lancaster," is a novel that I would categorize as a historical,
inspirational, and romantic book. After reading the first chapter, I
was hooked! I read the book in two days. I couldn't put it down;
yet, when I was finished, I wished there was more! I am anxiously
looking for a follow-up sequel to this book. Ruth has done a lot of
research dealing with factual ancestry of her characters as well as
the history of the land here in Ohio where I reside, about
twenty-five miles north of Springfield. I feel as though I have
learned a lot about the settlement of America and of Ohio during a
time of extreme challenge and perseverance. It leaves me being
thankful and blessed to have privileges of modern day society. The
most important aspect of the book is that God is the ultimate Answer
through His Son, Jesus! We can go through trials and struggles of
this life, but there is One Who is greater than anything imaginable.
Ruth's book brings this fact to reality as her characters find
salvation and true peace in a personal relationship with Jesus. May
God continue to bless Ruth, and her writing skills, and all that she
does to bring glory to our Lord.

GoodBookStall Review:
A Godly book that held my attention
to the detriment of other things I should have been doing! A story
of love, loss, and love again. Set in the Ohio valley USA, in the
town of Lancaster in the mid 1800s, not only do we get very
descriptive passages of the changing seasons of the area, but of the
changing lives of the characters. Elizabeth Cameron is widowed with
a young son and in her poverty forced to return to her well-to-do
family who are only too willing to care for her and protect her from
the outside world. Elizabeth however is determined to earn her own
living and not be dependent on her overpoweringly possessive Father.
Both of them are determined to gain success without God in their
lives, both find that the only way to perfect peace is to let God be
in charge. A very satisfying read.
