Meet Artist, Debra Bryant, Cover design, and Artist for Sword of the Wild Rose. Debra Bryant is a native of Kentucky, currently residing in Plant City, Florida. Oils are her preferred medium, but she also works with acrylics, pastel, colored pencil, watercolor, and charcoal. Extensive master classes from nationally known portrait artist, Frank Covino, have been the driving influence of her work. I paint because I love the creative process – the road to discovery from inspiration through signature. As frustrating as the process can sometimes be, it is far outweighed by the achievement of a satisfying painting. In my current work, I am always exploring color, challenging pre-conceived notions, and attempting to put a piece of “me” in every painting. Realistic rendering sometimes suits my purpose, but I also love the freedom that a more impressionistic approach gives.
