Thoughts on Song of Solomon 8:7

Thoughts on Song of Solomon 8:7 Thumbnail

Thoughts on Song of Solomon 8:7 We live in moments…one at a time. Some are ordinary moments in our day, but some are heart-stoppingly beautiful, unforgettable and poignant. Other moments are mysterious, inspirational and divine in significance. Still other moments seem too brief, a life cut short… This I know; love is stronger than death, floods cannot drown it. Love does not end with the final, fleeting breath of this temporal life. Love is eternal…just as God is eternal. ~Ruth Carmichael Ellinger

GOING BEYOND OURSELVES Etched on a white marble pillar that marks a grave in a small cemetery surrounded by ancient oak trees are these words: He takes us where we would not go alone…beyond ourselves. I visit this cemetery often and have pondered those words many times. The very thought of going beyond myself, beyond my own natural ability is saying to me as a human being living on planet Earth; I am very limited. There are many things I want to do, long to do, but I cannot. Why? Simply because they are beyond my own capability…if I go…

The Secret Place

The Secret Place Thumbnail

“HE THAT DWELLETH IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH SHALL ABIDE UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY.” – Psalm 91:1 There is a place, a secret place where we can find refuge from the daily stresses of life, those besetting troubles that often leave us perplexed and wondering, “why, Lord?” Women who resort to this quiet sanctuary find the strength to move forward, to meet the challenges of the day with courage and confidence. We understand that this secret place belongs to God alone. He beckons us to come closer to Him, to find all that we need,…

SEASONS OF LIFE  I cannot return to spring again To plant when sowing days are gone, Nor till the still soft earth of spring When summer suns have come and gone. Lord, help me know my times on earth To work the plan Your hand does show, Oh, let me bring at harvest time A life made whiter than the snow. ©ruthellinger2000

“For the time has come for thee to reap,    For the harvest of the earth is ripe” Rev. 14:15   Often, God chooses the simple things in nature, the earthy, mundane things of our lives to help us see a greater truth. The things familiar, often repeated in the cycle of life, are the things He chose to declare Himself, to proclaim His love and mercy to all who will receive it. No wonder the shepherd boy wrote in his psalm, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth His handiwork.” Harvest time is one…

When I behold the seasons change From wintry snow to springtime rain, I see far more than eye beholds A deeper wisdom than has been told. I see a Love, Divine and fair That wakes the dead to blossoms rare, And bids the planted seed to grow Into the harvest fields aglow. I see far more than eye beholds Of baskets full and leaves of gold, I see His love and constant care His bounty of the earth to share. ©ruthellinger2000

Harvest  Time Did you know that God is also a gatherer… a harvester and gleaner of precious souls? He knows when the fruit of the earth is ripe and He walks the fields in search of the present harvest. He sends the rain, the sun, and a faithful worker to till the ground. Because you are priceless to Him, He will patiently wait. He is looking for you in the fields of this world. Have you been gathered into His great storehouse? Are you ready for His coming?

The month of December…

The month of December… Thumbnail

Last month, Dec. 2013, I attended a number of book events in the Ohio area. Posting a few photos of the events. Highlight was signing books at WAGNALLS Memorial Library,(encyclopedia people) Christmas Open House. The library is phenomenal and houses a Creative and Visual Arts dept and a theater that feels like going back in time. Also did a signings at Stage Coach and LCG Christmas…
